The six-tool operator
Every fractional operator I know runs a version of the same stack. Here's what's on it, and what consolidating feels like.
The stack
Gmail, Asana, QuickBooks, Google Drive, a CRM (usually HubSpot or Pipedrive), and something for notes (Notion, Obsidian, Apple Notes). Six tools. Sometimes seven if there's a dedicated AR tool or a Slack Connect channel.
The cost of the stack
Context switching, permission management, data reconciliation, and the mental tax of remembering which tool owns which canonical fact. The stack is not the work. The work is the work. The stack is in the way.
